Every year the fear of public speaking is listed as one of the number one most feared things to do.  The levels of anxiety around public speaking are usually unfounded.  They say that 99% of the things we worry about do not occur.

Recently, we had Bill Lampton on our radio show talking about this very topic.  Bill is a well known public speaker and coach to help those who want to get better at it.  In this video clip, Bill talks about the 3 keys to overcoming the fear.

Remember that you’re just having a conversation

If you can remember you’re having a conversation and to view the “speech” as something as a conversation you should be more relaxed.

Your Audience does not consists of critics but rather cheer leaders.

In our work with clients we find that many of them damage their closest relationships with something called negative mindreading. Don’t negatively mindread the entire room and assume they are out to get you.  It’s just as easy to positively remember that they are there to hear you and are cheering you on!

You have the TRUMP card

You’ll have to watch the video to find out what the trump card is, but every speaker has this trump card and if used correctly, everyone will love your speech!
