One Challenge You Don’t Want to Miss!

Creating unique experiences in 3 easy steps

by Beau Henderson

Everybody loves field trip day – one parent bags your lunch, the other signs off on your slip, and off you go in that big yellow school bus, headed for adventure. The idea for field trips began after some telling bit of research.

In any classroom, regardless of how good the teacher…

a student will forget up to 75% of the lesson by the time they return to class the next day!

Engage that same student in a hands-on experience as opposed to a textbook, however, and that lesson remains permanently in their mind. As a student of Life School, this same premise applies: we remember best the things we experience ourselves, first hand.

“One of the greatest chain reactions that comes out of field trips

are the ideas created based on experience. Students become inspired.”

 – The Field Trip Directory

When was the last time you got inspired? How many of your days look exactly the same? Are you still waiting for mom or dad to sign off on your permission slip? We all have plans. Places we’d like to visit, things we’d like to do, and people who we’d like to do those things with. But here’s the thing:

None of those things are going to just happen unless you plan for it

In the same way that relationships must be nurtured and scheduled for, so, too, must life’s experiences. Flying down a zip-line with your spouse, learning a beautiful song on the piano, or a trip to the Egyptian Pyramids . . . the list is endless, and the plans can be big or small. Only you know what’s important to you. So what can you do about these plans and dreams, especially if you are “not a planner”?

How can you go about creating unique experiences on purpose?

#1 Write down your list Start with 10 things. Places you’ve always wanted to see, the people you want with you, the things you’ve always wanted to do. This is commonly known as A Bucket List, the idea here being that these are the things you want to experience before your time on earth is over, or before you kick the bucket.

#2 Share your list –  Talk about what you plan to do. This creates energy. If it gets talked about, chances are more likely that it will happen. And it is surprising the help that can come along the way when people become aware of what you’ve always wanted to do. They put you in touch with just the right expert, contact, or navigator. They volunteer their time, resources, or physical items that bring you one step closer to achieving your experience. Does that sound too good to be true? Try helping someone else out, and see just how much it ends up helping you.

#3 Do your list – Don’t wait until you’ve been delivered a death sentence to start working on your bucket list. None of us knows just how much time we have left. Not every field trip is a life-changing event, but these trips certainly have the potential to become lifelong memories.

And what I have learned from thousands of clients over the years is that …

it’s these memories, more than anything else, that contribute to our sense of having a rich life

Let me just say here that it is very easy to not do these things. It is very easy to let the days, weeks, and years slip on by. We all get busy, we all get caught up in other stuff. Which is why I extend the following RichLife Challenge:

Do 1 thing before 1pm tomorrow that will bring you one step closer to achieving a dream experience!

Pick up an application, bookmark a website, register for a triathlon.

Whatever it is, whatever the dream, DO ONE THING, and then tell me about it!

Sharing your story could inspire a fellow student of life-school and move us all one step closer to living rich
